Reading Time: 2 minutesTen fingers, ten toes, twenty reasons to avoid his gaze. I counted them with care, assuming he would tire and leave me to my eccentricities. But he waited, a wolfish greed gleaming in his eyes, marking its territory upon me. I was nothing yet everything, another half-pretty face cast away in an ocean of faces, the tides of time hadn’t been kind. No nail polish, I was allergic, it was a small price I had to pay. One, two, three, four…there I counted again, keeping to myself, wishing for sense to prevail…fourteen, fifteen… Keep on Reading!

Reading Time: < 1 minuteOne Minute seems so insignificant when you think of time in a broader sense.
Yet one minute is the most common response when a person needs to buy more time.
Are you on your way? “Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute.”
Could you help me in the kitchen? “Sure, just give me a minute.”
Turn off the television! “Okay! One more minute!”

Reading Time: < 1 minuteIt’s that time of year again when the make-believe demons and ghouls steal the spotlight from the REAL monsters of our times.
Every day is a day worth living, and what’s life without some sugar and spice. Stories never cease to amuse and entertain, and what could be better than a short story spirited with some Halloween spooks and dares!

And that means that it’s time to scare OR be scared !! Keep on Reading!

Reading Time: 5 minutesWhat will it take to make you laugh? A small joke? Maybe a tiny tickle? How about a gun to your head? (Laugh or you’re dead!)
Laughs are scarce, and life is short! But so is a One Act Play.
Let a writer (that would be me) transport you into a familiar and not so comfortable situation, the doctor’s office.
Now you’re probably wondering…what’s that have to do with laughs?
My ONLY comment, ‘You really need to stop wondering so much!.’ (COME ON!! Give a writer a chance!) Keep on Reading!

Reading Time: 3 minutesDepression does not strike based on a person’s gender, age, race, or intelligence quotient.
Depression is not something that can be brushed away with a smile, or shooed away with a pat on the back.
It’s something more deeper and profound.
There’s no gadget to test which person is suffering from what type of depression, and there’s no instrument to measure the extent of depression. Keep on Reading!

Reading Time: 2 minutesThe sky bled into the water, just as her womb had bled the day January was born. Her first and only child had been covered in blood and the remnants of a nine month cocoon. The nurse had leaned in with her bundle of joy; the first kiss, the most ancient of traditions. A sweet softness brushed her lips as a wail of resistance pierced her ears. It was the first time she had sensed the dislike. She named her January even though she was born in July, a paradoxical innovation. Keep on Reading!

Reading Time: 7 minutes
It wasn’t the darkness that bothered Shane, but the insecurity of being on his own, all alone for the first time in many years. In fact, he had never been afraid of the dark. Even as a young boy, he had spent most of his time loitering in the dark alleys near his grandfather’s house. Dark spaces had always enticed him, and made him feel calm. There was something soothing about the unknown and the unexpected. However, certain traumatic incidents had shattered his life. Shane hadn’t expected his parents to die when he was just ten. He hadn’t expected to be taken in by his resentful grandfather. He hadn’t expected his sister to run away from home when she was just fifteen years old. Keep on Reading!
