Thunder cracked right above her, and the lights went out. She stopped herself from screaming. He would hear her. Flashes of lightning illuminated the darkness. She could see the bursts of white from where she lay, beneath the bed. The bedspread was only inches from the ground and the bright flickers seemed like […]

  1. A highly competitive bitch… Just what I needed to kickstart my Tuesday. There’s me, sitting in the living room with my wee herbal tea, seeing your new story in my reader and I just know, that this is going to be good. Terveen, your stories pack quite a few punches and are not for the fainthearted. I could picture the whole scenario of the game that got out of hand. I love how you conjure up big stories in few words.

    • Haha! Thank you so much, Britta.
My mind was in the mood for some action. And women definitely should not be taken lightly. They may seem to let go of many things but when they are pushed to the edge, it’s time to run for cover.
I hope the story spiced up your tea. 🙂

  2. Wow, a fun, little game got dark fast! I was never a fan of such games back in the day; hated hitting people and getting hit!😁 Your story made me realise that I was right to be scared. Loved the story! I have read it twice! 👍

  3. What a great story that grabs the attention until the very end. The war between the sexes is the oldest battle of all battles and it will never end.

  4. A highly competitive pair it is! Haha what a game they choose to play.
Still curious about, “what had taken him so long?” 😂 afterall competetion is all about speed. This part was most funny.

Wonderful story, Terveen. Your words always paint a marvelous picture of the story you want to convey. Thanks for sharing.

  5. was the story making me violent as i too wanted her to hit him hard, well i see a lot of repressed emotions coming forthon your writing, loved reading it

  6. You’re dealing with a man of limited compassion here. My take on the situation? If you step up to play a slapping game and you’re not able to

    1) steel yourself against the possible oncoming of a slappageddon; and
    2) return slappage at the same level as the slappening is received

then you get what you deserve, end of story.

Oh, and there’s this thing called the internet, pally. How about you do a background check on the slap-happy chick that suggests the game, just to make sure she not a “highly-competitive (knife-wielding, psycho hunter) bitch.”

Also be on the lookout for missing persons bulletins posted in the area. Clues are everywhere if you look hard enough.

    • Haha!
      I missed this one.
Rhyan, a background check could do more harm than good. Have you looked at online profiles? They’re all too good to be true. And the ones that aren’t probably are the saner ones. Yikes!
Slappageddon – what an awesome word and title. Good one!
And sometimes when you look too hard for clues, you find something not meant for you. And it’s importance is probably limited.
May you always write like there’s no tomorrow.
The words deserve your skill, wit, and sarcasm. 🙂
